University Tertiary Matriculation Examination with acronym, UTME is a frightening examination for many candidates seeking admission into tertiary institutions. Many have written this examination more than times necessary, still they couldn’t scale through the skate of this examination by successfully gaining admission and some candidates have equally accused UTME of undermarking them by giving them lesser marks than they could have got. So there comes Joint Universities Preliminary Examination Board (JUPEB). What is Jupeb? Jubeb is an alternative advanced examination used to seek admission into tertiary institutions. It’s an accredited alternative exam that students write to gain admission into universities. Jubeb is one-year Direct Entry programme that allows admission seekers to transit to 200 level instead of JAMB’s exam UTME that can only give students access to 100 level.
Almost all Nigerian universities have subscribed to this examination because of its flexibility for admission accessibility. And equally, the programme has been applauded by admission applicants, but many have been longing to know how the programme is run, and the universities that run it?
Jupeb can be used for admission in Nigeria and other affiliated schools abroad.

1. University of Lagos, Lagos State
Facts
University of Lagos is the pioneer of Jupeb. School of Foundation Studies is the centre saddled with responsibilities of running Jubeb one-year programme for direct entry admission into 200 level in University of Lagos. And the foundation programme will run for one academic year.
Requirements
University of Lagos, School of Foundation Studies requires suitable candidate to possess five credit passes including English and Mathematics and other relevant three subjects at one sitting required in students’ courses of studies. And before any candidate can be considered for 200 level Direct Entry, such candidate must successfully pass approved exam that conducted on combined subjects registered by the students.
2. Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State
Facts
Another university approved Jupeb is Afe Babalola University, Afe Babalola International Study Center located in Ibadan, Oyo State, is the centre approved by Afe Babalola University to run Jupeb. The centre is in affiliation with many overseas institutions to use Jupeb to gain admission there.
Requirements
ABISC requires admission from qualified candidates who possess five credit passes in WAEC or NECO at one sitting or six credit passes at two sittings and the foundation programme will run for 18 months and after the candidates successfully pass Jupeb approved Examination. Such candidates can now proceed to 200 level in any university of their choice that approved Jupeb or travel abroad to continue their education.
3. Federal University of Oye-Ekiti, Ekiti State.
Facts
Fuoye is another university running Jupeb programme. Fuoye Jupeb Study Centre is designated centre in Fuoye that manages Jupeb programme in Federal University of Oye-Ekiti. The centre is located in Ilupeju Ekiti. Fuoye Jupeb Centre screening applicants by conducting screening test to admit applicants into its programme. Fuoye Jupeb Centre runs the programme for one year and after that, approved Jupeb examination will be conducted to test the applicants and the highly successful applicants will make it to 200 level in the university.
Requirements
Fuoye approves Jupeb programme for candidates that make five credit passes in WAEC/NECO at one sitting or six credit passes at two sittings.
4. Delta State University, Delta
Another university running Jupeb is Delta State University, School of Foundation Studies is the approved centre that runs Jupeb in Delsu. Delta State School of Foundation Studies runs the programme for one session of two academic semesters and Jupeb students are accommodated in the hostel.
Requirements
The candidates interested in running Jupeb programme must have minimum five credit passes including English and Mathematics in WAEC/NECO/ NABTEB at not more than two sittings but any medical courses must be at one sitting.
5. University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Kwara State
Another Nigerian university running Jupeb programme is Unilorin. Unilorin runs Jupeb programme within its university. The programme will run for one academic year in the School of Preliminary Studies. After successful one year programme, candidates can gain admission into 200 level in Unilorin.
Requirements
Unilorin requires any candidate interested in running Jupeb programme in Unilorin to possess minimum five credit passes in WAEC/NECO/NABTEB at not more than two sittings.
6. Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State
Another university running Jupeb programme is UNAAB. The Institute for Human Resources Development in charge of running Jupeb programme for the candidates prefer to bypass UTME in UNAAB. The programme runs for intensive and residential ten academic months of two semesters and any candidates who successfully pass approved examination will gain direct entry admission into 200 level at UNAAB.
Requirements
UNAAB requires minimum of five credit passes from interested Jupeb applicants at not more than two sittings in WAEC/NECO/NABTEB.
