Shell Nigeria Students Scholarship Schemes is a scholarship scheme that gives students of different categories opportunities to live up to their education expectations in life. It’s designed to let the education dreams and aspirations of various categories of Nigerian students come true. The program is meant to promote capacity building and employment opportunities in the country.
Year in, year out, more than four thousand Nigerian undergraduates write qualifying examinations to join the pool of student applicants in which Shell Nigeria pays their school fees in Nigerian universities. The candidates are trimmed down based on SSCE and Jamb results. After this, an aptitude test is officially organized to determine the finalists in the following states Warri, Lagos, Enugu, and Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Every year, on average, sixteen thousand applicants are responded to various advertisements by Shell Nigeria. On yearly basis, qualified candidates are invited to put in for the scholarships which only give ample opportunities to students of Nigerian universities.
What is the Shell Undergraduate Scholarship?
Shell Undergraduate Scholarship scheme is a corporate social responsibility of Shell Company to develop the education sector and strengthen the manpower base of the Niger Delta region and Nigeria at large. It’s aimed at developing the future of Nigeria’s talent and promoting academic excellence among youths, more importantly, those from underprivileged backgrounds.
Category of the Scholarship
There are two broad categories of scholarship:
National Merit Award: This category of the scholarship scheme is open to all citizens of Nigeria.
Areas of Operation Merit Award: This category of scholarship scheme opens only to the citizens who are living within the operational areas of Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited. These are citizens living in Abia, Imo, Bayelsa, Delta, and the Rivers States.
Scholarship Eligibility
- The applicants must be Nigerians or residents in Nigeria.
- The applicants must be full-time undergraduate students of Nigerian accredited universities
- The applicants must be in 200 level (as at the time of scholarship scheme) which usually comes in December.
- The applicants must possess evidence of admission (Admission Letter).
