NITDA postgraduate scholarship is a scheme meant for postgraduate students of Nigerian universities. The scholarship is aimed at cushioning the effect of the high cost of a postgraduate diploma in Nigerian universities especially with regards to Information Communication Technology, although, this is not the primary aim of the scholarship. The primary purpose of the scholarship will be given later in the course of discussion in this article.

What is NITDA?
NITDA is an acronym for National Information Technology Development Agency, is an agency of the Federal Government of Nigeria assigned the responsibilities of taking care and developing of Information Technology space of the country. It is a public service organization established by an Act of Parliament in 2007 as an Information Communication Technology development body. It’s an organ of the Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy. It’s known as a tentative organization for public development of the information technology sector.
About NITDA Scholarship Scheme and Aim
National Information Technology Development Agency Scholarship is primarily aimed at strengthening competency in Information Technology at Doctorates and Masters Degrees. The scholarship awards are shared on two persons per state including the FCT at Masters’ levels and one person per geopolitical region at Doctorate. It is also aimed at enhancing human capacity development in major areas of Information Communication Technology across Nigeria.
NITDA scholarship is an all-pay tuition fee financed by National Information Technology Development Agency on ICT-related courses.

To raise globally competitive human capital in the area of Information Communication Technology
To create job opportunities and wealth development in Information Technology related field.
To make opportunities available for Nigerian youths for them to realize their aspirations.
To serve as a source of economic diversification for the development of the nation.
Scholarship Eligibility
Not all students are eligible to apply for this scholarship, it is only meant for Masters and Doctorate students. The scholarship is meant for all Nigerians regardless of class and social background.
However, consideration is given to the following applicants:
PhD University and Polytechnic lecturers with MSc in Information Technology or related field.
MSc: First Class or Second Class (Upper) Division Honours Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related course and Law.
Note: The scholarship award is based on merit and requires an aptitude Computer Based Test to confirm the competency of each applicant.
Duration of NITDA Scholarship
The scholarship duration for a Masters’s degree in a year. And the scholarship duration for Ph.D. is for three academic years.

Selection Procedure
- The qualified candidates will be shortlisted to write aptitude tests and will be connected via phone SMS and email address.
- The successful candidates will be contacted via SMS and email and thereby invite for an oral interview and original result verification.
- The successful candidates will be subsequently invited to collect their scholarship award letter.
