To apply for the University of Essex Africa Scholarship, you must be eligible and be among the countries its scholarship scheme covers. Any applicants who do not eligible may not be considered for the scholarship scheme. Below are those who are eligible for the scholarship scheme.
- Applicants must be first-year in their postgraduate course
- Applicants must be international students from Africa who are self-sponsored themselves.
- Applicants must be graduates intending to pursue a Master’s program because the scholarship scheme is only meant, postgraduate students.
- The applicants must be residents in Africa fending for themselves.
- Applicants must have graduated from university with a bachelor degree certificate
- Applicants who are not on scholarship in the University of Essex
- Applicants who graduated with second class upper division

- Applicants from African Union member countries: 2:1 and above
