There are thousands of scholarships awarded to millions of students both locally and internationally. However, most of these scholarships are not viable to local applicants due to unmeetable requirements, for this reason, many students are afraid of applying for any scholarships either locally or internationally because they think they might be too hard for them to be successfully selected as recipients.

Scholarships are meant to relieve the financial burden of students with good academic records. Some are fully funded while some are not; those that are not are partially or partly funded. These scholarships have helped students in billions of dollars worth. Although most of these scholarships are designed to help academically sound students who cannot finance themselves.

Some scholarships are meant for citizens of all countries of the world and some are meant for citizens of certain countries and some are for citizens of a country that awards the scholarships. Some scholarships are given to the citizens of third world countries financed by the rich countries. Some scholarships are given to students by the private organizations in a particular country as a corporate social responsibility. Some are awarded by the individuals. This article is meant to give the prospective applicants, different types of scholarships, various agents of scholarship, a short note on scholarships, the list of viable scholarships in 2023.

Types of Scholarship

There are different types of scholarship schemes based on the ways financial status

1. Fully funded scholarship

A fully funded scholarship is a type of scholarship in which total expenses are covered by those who sponsor the scholarship. This type of scholarship is covered tuition fees of years of courses, course materials, monthly allowance, medical insurance among others.

2. Partial Funded Scholarship

This is a type of scholarship in which expenses are not fully paid for by those who sponsor the scholarship. This type of scholarship may be of one-time tuition fee payment or yearly renewable.

3. Internship is an education funding system in which students or graduates engage to learn more about their fields of studies to gain more experience from experts in the same fields in which the employers pay the students stipend.

Agents of Scholarship

There are different agents (those who grant scholarships to those who need them) who award scholarship opportunities to the students.

Individual Scholarship Granter

This is an individual who deems it necessary to help the students who are very sound academically. This type thinks it best to help those in need of a scholarship to have it so that the beneficiaries can have access to finish their education or a way of appreciating their efforts.

Private Organization Scholarship Granter

This is an organization that chooses to use scholarship as a corporate social responsibility in return for operating in a community or a country. This scholarship is given to assist those who show excellence in their academic pursuance.

Government based Scholarship

This is a scholarship scheme in which the government of a country, or a state government, or a local government choose to improve education in its domain. It may be direct from the government or agencies of government. This one is given to brilliant students to support them financially and appreciate their academic efforts to be useful to their societies.

There are various scholarship schemes in 2023 but not all are viable, but I will make the list of those that are viable below so that you can wisely choose the one you won’t stress yourself much to get. The first scholarship opportunity to be mentioned is:

ExxonMobil Scholarship.

Short Note: This scholarship is one of the viable scholarship schemes you apply for and expect a successful outcome if you are eligible and have all the requirements. This scholarship is a locally based one operated by ExxonMobil. It is a scholarship given based on the corporate social responsibility of ExxonMobil for operating in Nigeria. Although ExxonMobil Exploration Company is a multinational organization.

Applicants should take advantage of this scholarship scheme and be ready to be selected upon provision of required documents and meet other requirements considering in the choice of applicant selection.

NNPC/Chevron Scholarship Scheme

Short Note: Another scholarship that you can apply for and expect successful result is a Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation sponsored in collaboration with Chevron Corporation. This scholarship is no doubt one that you can’t regret putting in your application. It is a scholarship that has helped many who never think they can succeed during their application. Its selection is based on merit. That’s why you should meet the requirements and have all the required documents. Once all that you are asked to provide are intact. NITDA Postgraduate Scholarship
